2018 Interns

  • Samantha Burns

My name is Samantha Burns, 19, and I am currently a sophomore at IUPUI. I enjoy writing, photography, foreign language learning, and, of course, jamming out to worship music in my car (because nobody wants to hear me sing!!). But one of the greatest blessings I’ve been given is the opportunity to be a big sister/mentor to my two younger brothers. At IUPUI, I am currently working toward an Elementary Education major and Spanish minor. While on campus, I occasionally lead a small life group through an organization called Impact, and I am involved in the Comenius Institute, a group that equips young adults to live as Christians in a public university setting. At home, I actively attend Hazelwood Christian Church in small town Hazelwood, Indiana, where I came to know the Lord at the age of 15! Since then, He has taken me on a series of WILD adventures and pushed me beyond what I ever imagined, and I don’t want to stop there, which is why I am now here as one of the 2018 Mission Indy interns! Over the summer I hope to learn how to better become an instrument in the hand of God, being used in any situation I may be placed in to bring dry bones to life through His life in me.

  • Madison Dillon

My name is Madison Dillon and I am currently a student at Johnson University. The campus is located in Knoxville, Tennessee just outside of Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge. I am from Indianapolis, Indiana and attended Chapel rock Christian Church from my freshman to senior year of high school. I am pursuing a double major in Intercultural studies with a focus in Latin American studies and History with a focus in world history. A fun fact about me is that I’m horrible at baking but for some reason I have been able to almost perfect the task of making delicious banana bread. I’m super excited to intern with Mission Indy this summer and can’t wait to see what God has in store for the summer!

  • Elijah Eagapito

I am a sophomore studying Music Technology at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.  Some of my favorite things to do include:  playing piano or guitar, trying to sing, pretending to beatbox, recording music, playing ultimate frisbee, and displaying my inferior basketball skills.  My dream job is to open up a recording studio so that I can record and mix and master music for artists that have the same desire to spread the light and unconditional Love that Jesus has shown to us.  I have seen the impact that God has had on numerous lives through Mission Indy; that is something that I want to be a part of.  I am so excited to be serving with Mission Indy as well as equipping others to serve alongside me so that we can further God's Kingdom!

  • Laura Horton

I’m going into my junior year at Purdue University studying Management and Accounting with minors in Finance and International Business. With my accounting degree, my current goal is to work for a non-profit I love and support and generally use accounting as a way to serve anyone I can. My interests include the family dogs (Sammie and Ron), exploring new places with my friends, and eating ice cream. Much of my free time is spent with my campus ministry, the Christian Student Center at Purdue, whether that time is spent serving or just hanging out. My free time also consists of reading, watching Friends, playing ukulele, cooking, and most recently yoga (definitely in the beginner stage). I’m so excited to start this journey with Mission Indy and spend the summer growing in faith and exploring ways to better serve Indianapolis.

  • Simba N

I was born and raised in Zimbabwe. I have two younger brothers. I loved playing sports and serving my community as a child. I also love music and spending time with friends. I studied Cross-Cultural Media Communications at Johnson University. There, my passion grew for community development. I look forward to serving with this organization as we share the good news with others.

  • Collin York

My name is Collin York and I am a sophomore who is transferring to Lincoln Christian University in Lincoln Illinois this year. I am studying Business Administration as a major and going into Youth Ministries as my minor. God has given me musical talents that I have used growing up in my church. I express these talents by attempting to play any instrument that I can get my hands on. Obviously, my other passions include youth ministry. I have been a part of Jr. High youth groups in my church and being able to lead  them in the right direction has been a calling placed on my heart. I have two biological siblings (sisters) but have many brothers that God has given me to walk with through a tough time. I also have two cats and a dog, and I love them all. Another random fact about me is that I love to go running. Yes, I am 6 foot 4 inches and I am a runner. I cannot play basketball for my lack of coordination. I am excited for the journey that God has in store for me and everyone who crosses Mission Indy in the future. I know he has a plan, and I can only be thankful to be a part of it.
