Mini Mennert MEMORIAL
Minnie A. Seegers-Tindell-Mettert, 91, of Hoosier Christian Village, Brownstown, Indiana, went home to heaven on December 25th.

She was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene for over 50 years and was secretary-treasurer of the Missionary Society for many years. Although she faced many health struggles over the last years of her life, she never lost her sense of humor or her faith in God.

Her granddaughter, former Mission Indy Board Member, Susan Taylor Engledow honored her memory with a generous gift to Mission Indy. Thanks Susan. We are sure Grandma Mettert is honored by the gift and the service you have provided!

Below is part of a poem by an unknown author that was included in Minnie's memorial:

There is work still waiting for you, so you must not idly stand;
Do it now, while life remains, you shall rest in Jesus' land.

Could we not all stand to be reminded of doing the work now?

PRAYER REQUESTS
  • For wisdom in selecting the Summer Staff God wants here this year.
  • For the Intern Coordinator God wants to bless us with.
  • For new opportunities to share the vision of MI with churches and increase our support.
  • For the possibility of a new person to serve as a project manager for the summer and beyond.
  • For Niccole's current pregnancy -- that both Mom and baby will finish well and that the delivery will go well in June.
College Visits
We are continuing to visit college campuses in a final push to offer the summer intern program to as many students as possible. On January 29th Ron visited the Christian Student Fellowship at Indiana University. Natalie Replogle from the staff of '08 was there to meet him and help him 'sell' Mission Indy. Ron talked with a good prospect that night who said she would apply.

Then Ron returned to Cedarville University in Ohio and interviewed three young ladies. All three are good prospects, and we have some other applicants from that school.

March 1st is the deadline for applications. And so applications are coming in even now!.

February Work Day
Two church groups joined Mission Indy for a day of service on February 21st. Senior High students from Kingsway Christian Church (Avon) and Jr. High students from Reddington Christian Church (Seymour) served. Ron had help from Natalie, from the summer staff of 2008, who joined in as a site leader.

Some Kingsway students helped to organize the library at Neighborhood Fellowship Church. This small group went through and shelved hundreds of books and cleaned out the closet holding them.

The group from Reddington CC worked to removed two concrete block walls. This is in the basement of Englewood CC where in conjunction with the church, we hope to build a shower room with 3 showers for guys and 3 for girls, each with their own private dressing area. It will be modeled after the MI shower trailer, and will be used when the weather is too cold for the shower trailer.

It was hard to get started because the walls were built well and we didn't use any power tools, for safety reasons

In addition to the block walls, there was a lot of pipe and miscellaneous scrap to remove.

Now here is some real concentration!

Seriously, this group from Reddington CC worked hard and never complained. They really had servant's hearts.
